Founders: Spencer Trask’s Chairman was an angel investor in Aperture and helped reshape the product line and marketing strategy. In 2003, Bill Clifford, the former chief executive officer of The Gartner Group, was invited to join the board of directors and subsequently took over as chief executive officer of the Company. Spencer Trask connected with Bill through another local member of its network, Joe Henson, former chief executive officer of Prime Computer and LEGENT Corp. Joe thought that Bill might be interested in serving on the Aperture board in addition to investing in the company. Bill grew Aperture for the next three years until it was sold to Emerson (NYSE: EMR) in 2008.
